Results 2024

Results are in and students arrived from 8.15am this morning to collect them. Headteacher, Edward Hutchings said: "With over 30 different courses and one of the largest sixth forms in North Herts, our students have excelled across a huge range of qualifications, we are incredibly proud of all of them and what they have achieved. We have so many students progressing to their first choice of university, including large numbers to the Russell Group and others to the world of work and degree level apprenticeships. With 25% of grades at a A*- A, our students have some incredible next steps, a special mention goes to; Ella Buky who achieved 3 A* grades and will be studying Biology at Oxford, Lucas Hill (4 A* grades) who will read Chemical Engineering and Biotec at Cambridge, Poppy Martin (A*AA) is taking dentistry at UCL, Juri Whyte (A*A*A) is going on to an Electrical Engineering degree apprenticeship and Lola Major is also doing an apprenticeship in accountancy with A*AA. Congratulations to all our students and we wish them every success for their future."

Gill Hopkins, Head of Sixth Form, added “As a Sixth Form team we continue to be so proud of the hard work of both our teaching staff and students in battling an educational climate of continued change, to produce such solid results. Our students are now looking towards the next stage of their education and careers, ranging from advanced apprenticeships to employment, further study at university. We are proud of our strong tradition of impressive exam results at The Knights Templar Sixth Form but place equal value in the vast range of extra-curricular opportunities that we provide to help create well-rounded young people. We have no doubt that the KTS Sixth Form Class of 2024 will continue to achieve well on their post-18 journey. Well done to all.”

We are hugely proud of all of our students at The Knights Templar School, and would like to recognise their achievements over the recent challenging years. We do have some outstanding individual achievers who do deserve a special mention:

Our destinations data is once again really impressive, with the many of our students going on to their first-choice university or starting some amazing apprenticeships. Students attending our partner performing arts school in Hitchin, Emil Dale Academy, are also celebrating with destinations including some of the top musical theatre schools in the country.

Happy students including Ella (A*A*A* - University of Oxford, Biology), Poppie (A*AA – UCL, Dentistry), Lola (A*AA – accountancy apprenticeship), Megan (A*A*AA – University of Bristol, Mathematics), Amelia (AAC - accountancy apprenticeship) and Charlie (A*AA University of Southampton, Geography).

Ella said: "I chose to come to KTS sixth form due to the range of opportunities available including The Duke of Edinburgh award, music, drama and student leadership. Experiences like Gold DofE are some of my best memories from sixth form, the support with my university application has been incredible.”

Poppie commented that “I am really glad that I decided to continue my studies at KTS Sixth Form as it not only provided me with the tools to succeed academically but to also develop as a person.”

Charlie reflected on his time in KTS Sixth Form that “the staff that consistently go out of their way to support you achieve the most and this is seen from the top of the Sixth Form Leadership team and through each and every teacher. At the end of two years at the Sixth Form you will be able to reflect on a truly special experience where every lesson and opportunity collate to mark a huge step in your journey.”

Darragh (A*AAA - University of Bath, Chemical Engineering), Lucas (A*A*A*A* - University of Cambridge, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology) Toby (A*A*A - University of Sheffield, Mechanical Engineering).

Seb, who was one of our Head Prefects obtained A*AA and is going to the University of Warwick to read History & Politics and Juri (A*A*A) will be starting a degree apprenticeship as an Electrical Engineer.  Juri commented that “KTS has been an amazing experience over the last 7 years and I am going to miss it. The last 2 years in sixth form have been some of the most fun times and I have made so many memories in my time here.  All my teachers have been brilliant.  Ms Thompson was amazing with my degree apprenticeship application and the mock interview and presentation feedback she gave me helped enormously. Thank you to everyone.”

Kate (A*A*A) will be studying Archaeology at York and her views of KTS Sixth Form were “My experience at KTS has been very positive and I wouldn’t want to have spent the last two years anywhere else. I have particularly enjoyed extracurricular activities in Music and Drama and appreciate the welcoming attitude to participation.

The A-levels I take are completely different to the extra-curricular activities I enjoy, which is why I am so fond of KTS - other sixth forms I viewed were better at arts or sciences, whereas KTS has good resources and teachers in each subject, and arts are valued equally to the sciences and humanities.

More than anything the support and enthusiasm I have received from teachers and staff has helped me do things I never really expected of myself. Year 11 me wouldn’t have thought I’d be Deputy stage manager, sing in a band, make a recycling bin for the common room, or perform in the Jazz spectacular, and I’m very pleased with how much my confidence has grown in the last two years! “

Beth, (AABB - University of Leeds, Biology) who joined KTS from Hitchin Girls School to study A Levels observed: “Since joining KTS in Year 12, I have been blown away by the incredible teachers and support services. My teachers were very understanding and helped me out with content I had missed due to different GCSE exam boards, and the classroom environment is so enjoyable and supportive. I have made lifelong friends here, and also reconnected with people from primary school, which has been wonderful. The opportunity to be part of wider events such as sports day and the Macmillan coffee morning was so worth it and I have received incredible support in my university applications. Since my first day at Knights, I have felt part of the community and since choosing it for sixth form I have never looked back and never regretted my decision.”

With over 150 students in year 13 and one of the largest school sixth forms in North Herts, our students have achieved across a huge range of qualifications, obtaining some great results and moving on to some really exciting next steps at university, college and apprenticeships.

Luke Phillips who achieved A*A*A* in Maths, Computing and Psychology is going on to study Psychology at Newcastle University said "I have loved my time at Knights Templar Sixth Form.  The staff were always extremely supportive and encouraging, pushing me to try my best.  There were lots of ways to engage with the school community and I enjoyed joining in and trying to make a difference.  I went into the Sixth Form with little idea of what I would do afterwards, but the psychology department, through their passion, and discussions during lessons, have inspired me to pursue the subject further."

Lauryn West completed 3 A-levels achieving all A*’s in Criminology, English literature and Law, she will be studying English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Warwick.  Lauryn said “Since joining KTS at Sixth From - it has been a rewarding and enriching experience.  I am delighted with my results.” 

Mark Walker (A*AAA in Chemistry, Maths, Further maths and physics will be going onto study Chemistry at the University of Bath. 

Jet Baldwin will be going to study Astrophysics at the University of Bristol, she achieved A*, A, A in A-levels in Physics, Maths, Chemistry. 

Matthew Dowsett (A*AAA in Physics, Computing, Maths and Further Maths) will be going to Lancaster University to study Theoretical Physics with Mathematics.  He said “I was happy and surprised with my results as some of the exams were really hard. Thank you to my teachers, who were always available to offer support, at any time of day.” 

Shakirah Rashid will be studying Biochemistry at the University of Bristol, she achieved A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. 

Eloise Worcester will be studying Ecology and Conservation at the University of Sussex, she achieved A*AA in A-levels in Sociology, Geography, Biology.  “I am delighted with my results and want to give a particular thank you to Mrs Evans who carried me through my studies.” 

Jack Pinnock who graduated last summer will be taking up a place at Leicester Medical School secured in this current UCAS cycle.

With over 160 students in year 13 and one of the largest school sixth forms in North Herts, our students have excelled across a huge range of qualifications, achieving some fantastic results and moving on to some really exciting next steps at University, college and apprenticeships.

Our high standards of attainment and achievement have been maintained, with a high proportion of our students achieving the very highest grades. We are hugely proud of all of our students at The Knights Templar School, and would like to recognise their achievements over the last two, very challenging years. We would also like to celebrate the effort of the following students who have made excellent progress since completing their GCSEs: Denholm Bruce, Freya Marshall, Aimee Anderson, Christopher Parry, Taranpreet Kandola, Jemima Gayfer-Toms, Daniel Norman, Phoebe Bourke, Jaime-Kay Body, Toby Richards, Eleanor Conn, Jack Pinnock, Nijam Uddin, Taylor Gentle, Sienna Kelly.

Kira Oestreicher who achieved A*A*A*in Maths, Biology and Chemistry is going on to study Veterinary Medicine at Bristol said “I feel incredibly proud and privileged to have spent the last 2 years in the KTS sixth form. The support and care I have received from so many members of staff has been phenomenal, they have guided me through all the challenges. I hope every student realises how lucky they are to be at this school!”

Odumade Anuoluwapo completed 4 A-levels achieving 3A* grades and an A in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology, she is going on to study Computer Science at Loughborough.

Also completing 4 A-levels, Luke Bungay achieved 2A* and 2 A grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Geography, he is going to the University of Bath to study Civil Engineering.

Freya Hazelwood achieved A*A*A in Theatre Studies, Media and English Literature and is going on to study English at Nottingham.

Mia Raso, one of our Senior Prefects had moved to us from a local school for A-levels and achieved A*AA in Maths, Chemistry and Biology.  On receiving her results, she commented “Coming to Knights Templar Sixth Form from a different school in the middle of a pandemic, I was so worried about fitting in. After becoming Head Prefect, surviving many isolations, and making friends for life, I can say that I could not have been more proved wrong. There is so much support available from teachers and not just through subjects - the community feel at this school is unmatched.”
