About

As we embark on this new academic year, I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Head of Sixth Form. With a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering student growth, I am excited to lead our sixth form with a fresh perspective and a commitment to excellence.

At the heart of my leadership philosophy are three core values: integrity, inclusivity, and innovation. These principles will guide my approach to nurturing a vibrant learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered.

I believe that honesty and transparency are crucial in building trust within our school community; I am dedicated to fostering open communication and ensuring that students feel comfortable voicing their ideas and concerns. As a strong advocate for diversity, I aim to develop a sixth form that celebrates the unique backgrounds and perspectives of all students. By promoting an inclusive atmosphere, I hope to enhance collaboration and understanding among peers. Finally, I embrace change and am excited to introduce new teaching methods and opportunities that cater to the evolving needs of our students. I believe in harnessing technology and creative approaches to learning, preparing students for the challenges of the future.

One of the hallmarks of our sixth form experience is the wide range of extracurricular activities available to students. I firmly believe that these opportunities are vital for personal development and help cultivate well-rounded individuals. From sports teams and music ensembles to drama productions and art clubs, there is something for everyone. Students can engage in competitive sports, fostering teamwork and resilience, while those with a passion for the arts can explore their creativity through various performance and visual art opportunities. We offer the Gold Level Duke of Edinburgh award to sixth formers, no previous experience is necessary. Additionally, we offer numerous clubs focused on academic interests, such as debate, science, and philosophy book club. These clubs not only enrich the academic experience but also allow students to connect with like-minded peers and develop leadership skills. Moreover, service-oriented initiatives, including Interact (the youth-wing of the Rotary Club) encourage students to give back to the community, instilling a sense of responsibility and empathy.

My motivation stems from a deep-seated belief in the potential of young people. Having spent over 20 years in education, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a supportive and challenging sixth form experience. My vision is to cultivate an environment where students not only excel academically but also develop essential life skills. Central to this vision is the importance of an holistic education. I plan to develop the programmes that focus on personal development, mental health, and career readiness. By providing resources and support, I aim to equip students with the tools needed to navigate their future paths confidently.

I understand that collaboration between students, parents, and staff is vital for success. I am eager to establish stronger relationships within our community, encouraging parental involvement and feedback. There will be information evenings and regular submissions to our weekly bulletin to keep everyone informed and engaged, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

In conclusion, I am excited to lead our sixth form into a new era of growth and achievement. With a strong foundation built on integrity, inclusivity, and innovation, students can look forward to an enriching experience that prepares them for their next steps, whether that be higher education, vocational training, or entering the workforce. I invite you to join me and the KTS sixth formers team in this journey and support our shared vision for a bright future for all our sixth form students.
